The Willow Park Dance Academy, formerly The Kathleen A. Magyar School of Dance, was established in 1975 to offer excellence in dance training to the young dancer. We offer a variety of classes for pre-school age children through advanced pre-professional students and adult classes. Our belief is that the study of dance encourages creativity, instills a sense of discipline, builds self-esteem, strong bodies and minds while developing poise and grace. Our classes are designed to nurture students in the art of dance through history, creativity, and self expression. We strive to make your child's dance experience at our school an enjoyable one that they will treasure for a lifetime. Our main emphasis at the school is the study of Ballet. We specialize in "Story Book Ballets". Our recitals tell a story and each class is involved in telling this story. Past recitals have included "The Sleeping Beauty", "The Little Mermaid", and "Peter Pan".We strongly believe that Ballet provides the foundation of all other dance forms. In order to give our students an opportunity to explore other forms of dance, we also offer classes in Jazz, Modern/Lyrical, and hip-hop dance.
Students
from the Kathleen Magyar School of Dance have gone on to dance
professionally with Pennsylvania Ballet, Boston Ballet, Ballet de Cuba,
and the Nashville Ballet. Other students have received scholarships at
The Boston Conservatory, North Carolina School of the Arts, Eglevsky
Ballet Company, and Chautauqua Ballet.
