Fairytale Ballet(ages 3-4): Students will learn the basic Ballet, Jazz, and Lyrical steps, rhythm, and coordination in a supportive and creative environment. Students are encouraged to build their creativity through dance movement using fairytale music, songs, and stories of famous ballets such as The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty.
Creative Ballet (ages 5-6): Students will learn the basic Ballet steps and terminology, balance, and flexibility. Greater emphasis is placed on Ballet technique in a nurturing and creative environment.
Ballet II: Students will progress in their technique and flexibility through more difficult steps and combinations placing emphasis on preparing the student for pointe work Students will also begin learning the history of Ballet.
Ballet III: Students will perfect their abilities and work on performance quality movement. Students will also learn the history of Ballet as well as original choreography to some of the greatest ballets of our time.
Advanced Ballet: Students will continue to perfect their technique through class and performances. They will focus on dance careers and how to get ahead in the world of Ballet. Classes will focus on high intensity training and advanced work en pointe. Students will also experiment with contemporary work.
PrePointe: Students who show promise in their technique and strength in their legs and ankles will be invited into the PrePointe class. This class works to strengthen the students legs, ankles, and feet preventing injury and preparing the student for pointe work. The class will focus on balance, strength, and turning.
Beginner Pointe: Students will work en pointe slowly building their strength and confidence in pointe shoes and pointe technique.
Advanced Pointe: Students will progress in their pointe work doing more without the aid of the barre. The class will continue to strengthen the legs and build in balance and turning ability.
Jazzy HipHop: (ages 5-7): This class is a fun, high energy environment designed to boost confidence and expression in dancers as they learn basic isolations and style movements to upbeat choreography and top songs!
Beginner Jazz Dance Medley :Jazz Dance Medley is a great opportunity for any beginner level dancer to have the opportunity to experience various dance styles including but not limited to jazz, lyrical, hip hop and acro! During this exciting and creative class our dancers will experience core strength, flexibility, choreography and improvisation.
Advanced Jazz Dance Medley :Advanced modern is a continuation of skills from Beginner Modern where dancers will continue to explore their range of movement. Classes include but are not limited to jazz, lyrical, hip hop and acro! During this exciting and challenging class our dancers will be inspired to reach their potential in core strength, flexibility, choreography and improvisation.
Musical Theatre: Dancers will learn dances from Broadway hits, develop theatrical qualities, and portray characters. Dancers will enjoy exploring iconic shows and applying their unique artistic elements directly to the stage.
Creative Tap: (ages 5-8)
The fundamental steps of tap dance will be introduced in a fun and creative way. A series of upbeat tap dance exercises will enable children to develop and improve their coordination, timing, rhythm, and speed. Everyone will be encouraged to work at their own pace..
Tap 1&2 (Ages 9 and up) A mixed level class for the beginning level student as well as those that have one or two years of previous tap dance training. Focus will be placed on learning proper technique, producing clear tap sounds, and developing rhythm and timing. Everyone will be challenged and encouraged to work at their own pace.
Tap 3 - Students will work on increasing speed and combining the basic steps of tap with more complicated skills. Students will also start to learn about the history of Tap Dance and focus on developing their performance skills.
Advanced Tap- Students will learn more complex skills and combinations. Emphasis will be placed on the clarity of tap sounds, solidifying proper technique, increasing speed, rhythm, timing, tap history, and performance. (Teachers permission is needed to join this class).
Tap Company- An opportunity for tap students to explore different types of tap dance choreography. Tap company members will perform in The Christmas Show and have additional dances in the June recital. Students will also explore tap dance history, improv, rhythm games, and have the opportunity to create their own choreography. Must have at least 3 years of previous tap dance training in order to join.
Adult Tap (ages 18+) A class designed for adults with prior tap dance experience. Adults should know and be comfortable with all of the basic steps of tap dance and be able to perform them with speed. If you have at least one full year of recent tap dance training or studied tap for several years as a teen, this class will be a good fit for you. Everyone will be encouraged to work at their own pace as a warm-up, series of tap dance drills, across the floor exercises, and center combinations are explored. Emphasis will be placed on developing proper technique, increasing speed, and producing clear tap sounds.
